Kade Beau Anderson

Kade Beau is an Australian born, British artist who splits his time between Krakow Poland, and his hometown of Melbourne Australia. He has a BAFoodSC and MAC from The University of Melbourne.

As a trained scientist, his work often explores themes with a degree of scientific curiosity underpinning the question, what does it mean to be human? How does community, family, culture, food, and geography all help shape the answer to this question without ultimately being able to wholly define us, set rules for us, or to limit our boundaries of possibility.

As the world faces head-on the plunge into an ever more digital, and sometimes more make-believe than reality existence, Kade attempts to protest this by predominantly making his work in both 35mm and medium format film.

I would like to say thank you, to the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation for letting us share your land. I promise to look after it, the animals and people too. I acknowledge that the land on which I work and call home is a place of age-old ceremonies, celebrations, initiation and renewal; and that the Bunurong peoples’ living culture continues to have a unique role in the life of this region. Hello land.  Hello sky – where Bunjil flies.  Hello me, my friends and I.

Portrait Awards 2021

“Your photographs are very beautifully made Kade. And in addition to your aesthetic and technical talents, these images reflect your ability to translate complicated concepts into apparently simple looking photographs. Yet the result is that your images are indeed quite complex too.”
